Edo Politics: Imasuagbon Bids Farewell To Labour Party

Kenneth Imasuagbon, a former aspirant for the Edo State governorship under the Labour Party(LP), has announced his resignation from the party via a letter dated Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

Imasuagbon explained that he could no longer remain affiliated with an organization he believes has lost its direction and is unable to offer a credible leadership alternative for the nation.

Imasuagbon, who has previously been a member of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed frustration over the party's internal struggles, highlighting what he termed a "lack of internal democracy" and "intractable divisions."

He claimed that these issues, along with a failure to stay true to its founding principles, had turned the party into an environment where effective leadership could not thrive.

The resignation letter, addressed to the Labour Party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, and copied to the party’s Ward 2 Chairman in Ewohimi, Esan South-East Local Government Area, detailed Imasuagbon's deep dissatisfaction with the state of affairs within the party.

He noted that, despite his significant investment in both leadership development and philanthropy over the past 25 years, the party's current trajectory had become unrelated for him and his supporters.
